Range:Black Ducks are native to eastern North America, breeding from Hudson Bay south to New York and wintering to the south, along the Gulf Coasts of Florida west to Texas.
Habitat: Mostly wooded areas and bamboo thickets
Status in Wild: They are declining in numbers in the wild, in large part due to habitat depletion and the introduction of toxic substances into the remaining wetlands.
